Our online adoptive support group will be on Monday, November 25th from 7:30-9:00pm over zoom.

This group is open to any adoptive families in Alberta and is meant to be a safe space to talk through the sometimes challenging job of parenting our kids.  The group is facilitated by Marcia Peters who is an adoptive mother and also a social worker. Please feel free to invite any friends.   Last time we had some great discussion based on some videos we watched and we will continue looking at some short videos on adoption by Lara Leon followed by discussion time.  Here is her website https://www.lara-leon.com/

This is our last meeting of this year, but please save the date of January 26, 2025, in your calendar.  Wendy Goetze of Kinderhaven Counselling will be joining us and will talk about sharing adoption stories with our children and she will also talk about how to support our children to share their stories when they are ready and navigate challenging questions from other people.

What: Bring a picnic lunch for your family, chairs, and join us for a chance to connect with other adoptive families and children.

The park has some fire pits if you want to roast hot dogs.  There is a large playground, spray park and lots of green spaces for games.  It is meant to be an informal gathering, but we will bring some games and fun activities for the kids.

International adoption training is a requirement for every Albertan who wishes to pursue an International Adoption. This workshop will provide information on the process and on the unique challenges in parenting a child from tough backgrounds (like an orphanage). Exploration of trans-racial adoption and opportunity for continued learning and research will be offered.
